(This tour also visited Kilsyth (Old)). The number 189 was shown on the locomotive's buffer beam. The locomotive was not turned at Aberfoyle and returned tender first. (Also sometimes listed incorrectly as the 15th of May.) |

With both Dundee West and Dundee Tay Bridge [Station] having lost services the latter was able to take on the traffic of the former. Dundee West Goods remains open and Tay Bridge Goods closed (although much remains open as sidings). |
1965 | Aberfeldy Branch (Inverness and Perth Junction Railway) Inverness and Perth Junction Railway Aberfeldy branch closed, along with the closure of stations on the Highland Main Line with the withdrawal of local trains. On the branch Aberfeldy, Grandtully, Balnaguard Halt closed along with the junction station Ballinluig. South of the junction, on the main line, Dalguise and Murthly closed. To the north Killiecrankie, Struan, Dalnaspidal, Tomatin, Moy, Daviot, and Culloden Moor closed. |
A4 Pacific no 588 Merlin, in wartime black livery, is pulled from the East Coast Main Line at Donibristle Halt on May 3 1946 and is about to cross the A921 road. The locomotive was being taken into ^HMS Merlin^, the Royal Naval Air Station at Donibristle on the East Ness Jetty Branch (later ^HMS Cochrane^). An unveiling ceremony was later carried out there by Captain Chatwin, the base commanding officer, revealing the ^HMS Merlin^ crest on the locomotive cab side (later relocated to the boiler casing).
